Home » Assignment #2  »  5. Create a headline for an article about the SCC Advertising Program targeted to local graduating high school students. I am specifically not telling you what to do or the questions that need to be asked. Please provide the following:
  1. Provide the headline

“Your future is important — Your education is even more important to us!”

  1. Provide an overview of the elements missing in the instructions required for this task.

The question asked is broad and doesn’t point to specific things that are wanted and needed. There is no information given on the highschool students interests, needs, and life motivations. In the question there is no guidance on how they want the headline to sound or feel to the readers or what components you want us to add into the headline such as numbers, psychological bias etc.

In order to create an effective, relevant, and overall good headline we need more information on basic demographics, psychographics, program benefits and information, and understand needs.

  1. Explain the headline you created, why, and any other reasons/justifications you need to provide to me for the headline you created. (6 Marks)

Because there was a lack of instruction I wanted to create a headline that worked for any part of the advertising program. I wanted the future students to feel like we were speaking directly to them and this wasn’t a course they were gonna take that the professors wanted you to fail.

I wanted to highlight the fact that this program values each and every student and prays for each individual's success.

It was short and straight to the point so that everyone can easily figure out what the headline is trying to say to them.

I wanted to start off with something strong and that will resonate with all highschool students entering their adult life - their future. The future is something that many people tend to stress about and are scared to choose the wrong path especially for school. If we can show that we understand the importance of their future and we care so we are going to give them a good education then we can resonate and have an underlying story.

Overall, the headline addresses the students needs and values, their concerns, amplifies a sense of importance between the school and the student and supports a positive tone.
